Tarnished, this is basically Art Deco. Erté (whose artworks I blog about once a week) was considered one of the founders of the style. He started his career as a fashion and costume designer, and became famous for illustrating covers for Harper’s Bazaar in the 1910s and 20s. Late in his life (he died old, about 95, working until the end) he turned to lithography and sculpture.

My first real blog post was about Erté, and I think nearly everything in the category “Art” is pictures of his. My Gravatar is an Erté too: “Wings of Victory”.

I’m glad you like his art. I do too. 🙂

Tell me.
