Lotta good stuff going on out there.
For one thing, most of the U.S.’s allegations about Saddam’s WMD programs have been proven to be true. People forget that the prohibited WMD stuff wasn’t just a couple missiles with warheads mounted – it was the research and storage programs, the stockpiled precursors that Saddam refused to establish accountability on… never mind the intel surveillance of the inspection teams and hide-the-ball maneuvers. Weapons inspector Charles Duelfer reports that most of our suspicions are being confirmed, one at a time, “but none of this seems to mean anything because the weapons that were unaccounted for by the United Nations remain unaccounted for.”
Here’s a dog bites man story –
the NY Times Adam Nagourney reports the Kerry medal/ribbon problem as “Kerry Questions Bush Attendance in the Guard in the ’70s.” The nice thing about the NY Times is it is unchanging. It features the same printface it has used for decades, many of the same reporters, and its anti-conservative, anti-Bush slant is something you could count on even if the rivers were to run dry, and the seas vomit their fish.
Which if you read the environmental reporting, is likely to happen if Bush gets re-elected.
I read something the other day, I can’t remember where, about Mary McGrory, the recently deceased Wash Post columnist, a woman whose bile was exceeded only by dogmatic adherence to leftist positions. This writer was saying “I will miss Mary McGrory… during the 80’s, I would get up in the morning, read Mary McGrory, and know what I would be against that day.” Seeing a theme here? Yep, consistency.

Early one mornin’ the sun was shinin’,
I was layin’ in bed
Wond’rin’ if she’d changed at all
If her hair was still red.
Her folks they said our lives together
Sure was gonna be rough
They never did like Mama’s homemade dress
Papa’s bankbook wasn’t big enough.
And I was standin’ on the side of the road
Rain fallin’ on my shoes
Heading out for the East Coast
Lord knows I’ve paid some dues gettin’ through,
Tangled up in blue.
Oh, sweet Jeeezus! Shut that piehole! Didja ever see somebody’s mouth, and it reminded you of the Ren & Stimpy episode where Ren has a rotting tooth, and there are flies buzzing around the cavity when the animator does an extreme closeup? I look at this picture and wonder if bugs crawl out when he opens his trap. It’s that bad. And who says Heroin and booze screws you up? Hat tip to Primal Purge.
Speaking of Brendan Behan and boozing yourself to death, here’s Modern Drunkard Magazine. This month’s highlight – definitely “40 things a drunk should do before dying.”
And while you’re at it, stop by and wish Mike Hendrix a happy millionth hit at Cold Fury. He’s our Bloggfather, people… pay your respects.
