The Met Season Begins

… and for the first time in a dozen years, I’m not there. In spite of my absence however, my spies tell me a good time was had. And the performance of La Traviata with Renee Fleming, Ramon Vargas and Dmitri Hvorostovsky was, according to Anthony Tommassini, stupendous.
UUPDATE: It’s unanimous, from the Post, to the
News, to Newsday, which may be the first place I’ve ever read the phrase “searingly analytical”. It’s meant as a compliment.
