“And how are you this evening?”

I haven’t been following the controversy over the Do Not Call registry, although from what I understand, the legal issue seems to be that the FTC (a branch of the federal government) may/may not be overstepping its bounds on this. I will leave it to greater legal minds than I to duke this one out.
In the meantime, when telemarketers try to call you selling magazine and newspaper subscriptions, tell them you can’t read.

    When we answer the phone we always say, “Friend, family or telemarketer?” It confuses the hell out of them. If it’s a telemarketer you’ll almost always hear either “uuuuhhh…” or a long silence.
